Occasionally, a tooth or several teeth may be lost due to disease, decay, or injury. This can make it difficult to eat or to speak properly and allows for drifting of the other teeth and collapse of the bite.

In the 21st Century, the best way to replace missing teeth in many cases is through dental implants. An implant is a titanium “root” which is precisely and gently placed in the jawbone upon which a crown or denture can be placed. An implant stands alone so that it is often not necessary to alter the other teeth around the space.

For those who find it difficult to wear a denture, especially a lower denture, implants will provide the security you need. Implants are placed in the jawbone and the denture is fitted with special retainers which snap onto the implant, creating a stable and tight-fitting denture or partial. New “mini” implants are very effective in supporting a denture, and are an even more affordable alternative to conventional implants.
