Learn about Laser Dentistry

“Since adding the laser to our practice, we have completed over 2,000 restorations on adults and children. Over 98% of patients required absolutely no anesthesia. Out patients were thrilled at dentistry with no anesthesia, a ‘tooth-colored’ restoration, and being able to immediately return to normal activities.”
Dr. Don L. Wilson, Dental Economics, July 2001

Laser dentistry is altering patients’ perceptions of the traditional dental treatment for cavities. “The ever expanding applications of laser in dentistry have ushered in a whole new era of patient care,” states Stewart Rosenberg, DDS in the November 2003 Dental Practice Report.

Patients who are fearful of shots and anxious over the intended pain, numb lip and high pitch whine of the drill are relieved to experience an alternative treatment for cavity removal and appreciate the tooth-colored restoration that is used.

The DELight laser is an alternative to the drill for cavity removal, and offers patients the latest in state-of-the-art technology. In clinical studies 96% of patients required no anesthesia when the DELight dental laser was used to remove decay. Simply put by Donald J. Coluzzi, DDS in the December 2003 Dental Practice Report, “The erbium...uses laser energy and sprays of air and water without the heat and vibration of traditional equipment.”

Dr. Luther also utilizes the DIAGNOdent® laser system which detects cavities that traditional methods of probing miss. X-rays and probing are limited in detecting sub surface decay, particularly when the cavity is in its early stages. The unique DIAGNOdent® instrument allows the doctor to locate hidden decay, and with treatment stop the spread of disease before it destroys the tooth from within.

Cavity removal with the laser is safe for both adults and children and allows patients to get back into their daily activities immediately after leaving the dental office. So you can chew, eat, play in a soccer game or attend a business meeting immediately after a laser filling! Now that is something to smile about!
